Barnes,Jr.,often describes his ministry as non-traditional. He personally believes that the ministry that he is leading at Spruce Saint Matthew in the pulpit is not just to teach you what the Bible says, not just to preach the gospel to you, to preach the Word of God to you, but to stimulate you to personal study of the Scripture. He is excited when one feels free to clap their hands,stump their feet or say AMEN.
